Facial Hair Removal 101

It is undeniable that facial hair is a problem for everyone. I will admit it is a bigger deal for some people than others, though. You have at least one errant hair, though, no matter who you are. That is just a fact of life.

If you are anything like me, plucking makes you crazy. I cannot even see the mirror through the tears in my eyes! However I am timid about facial hair creams. I tried one when I was in high school and had a long red blister over my upper lip for a week. My girlstache would have been preferable to that…

Fortunately, hair removal creams have come a long way since high school. They used to smell awful and be full of harsh chemicals. Now most of them smell like a delightful aromatherapy treatment. Of course, you still need to be careful.

Get the best possible results from your facial hair removal by following these tips:

1. Make sure that you do a test first. Before you put any cream on your face, try a little on your wrist. If you notice burning or develop a rash then call a halt to the process. A small dab of the cream should be enough to test with.

2. Watch for herbal ingredients. You just plain need chemicals to melt hair away. However, herbal extracts will help your skin recover from this attack. Heavy moisturizers and natural ingredients tend to make the facial hair removal process go more smoothly.

3. Go for the fragrance. You likely remember that stinky cream that was used to remove leg hair. That smell was definitely chemically based. Now you can eliminate the odor or at least mask it with fragrance. This can save you a severe allergic reaction – and a strange sneeze splatter! Unless you cannot handle any artificial fragrance at all, your nose will thank you for the improved aroma.

4. Work in sections. Once you decide to put the cream on your face, take it slow. Always get started with the eyebrow area. It is noticeably less sensitive than the upper lip area. If your brows show no signs of irritation then you can move on to the lip or chin areas.
